At Country Meadows Retirement Communities we focus on living...for now and the future. Our goal at Country Meadows is to enable residents to live life to its fullest. That is why our extensive community life program plays an important role in the daily lives of residents. Residents make friends, explore new hobbies and continue lifelong passions.

Residents remain healthy and active through a full array of offerings including social events, spiritual enrichment programs, recreational activities and cognitive and intellectual stimulation. Residents also engage in purposeful activities by volunteering on-campus and in the community.

We encourage friends and families of residents to peruse our monthly calendars or view daily campus activities via TouchtownTM and then join their loved one for an event or activity. Many of the events and activities are also open to our neighbors in the local community.

Social Events
Country Meadows residents enjoy an active and social life. Daily events may include dances and parties, country rides, shopping trips, lunch at local restaurants, games and movies. Residents often gather for pre-dinner social hours to enjoy a game of pool, entertainment or a chat with friends. Comfortable, well appointed living rooms and libraries also provide a cozy place for conversation among friends or to simply read a book.

Spiritual Life Services
Country Meadows welcomes people of all religious and cultural backgrounds and embraces an inclusive interfaith approach to spiritual care. On-campus ecumenical and interfaith religious services are held, as are opportunities to attend worship services in the local community. Through interactive small groups residents are empowered to find emotional, social and spiritual support among their peers and Country Meadows co-workers.

Recreational Activities
Country Meadows places a high value on wellness and fitness for its residents. The benefits of physical activity are illustrated by a higher quality of life, independence and diminished pain associated with chronic conditions. Each campus has a fitness coordinator to promote healthy lifestyles for residents. Fitness activities include Tai Chi, gentle yoga and Nautilus exercises. The fitness coordinators also plan wellness education programs with community health professionals.

Residents at Country Meadows can be found bowling, golfing, boxing and even playing tennis and baseball through the interactive technology - Nintendo® WiiTM.

A Walking Club promotes independence, balance and endurance, as well as provides an opportunity for residents to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association and the Arthritis Foundation. Country Meadows donates ten cents for every mile walked by residents to the residents' choice of one of these two charities.

Cognitive and Intellectual Stimulation
Life long learning programs offer interactive and exciting learning opportunities for residents to stay mentally active. On any given day, the community calendar may include art classes, a lecture given by a local college professor, piano lessons, a field trip to a museum, cooking demonstrations, painting classes and current events discussions.

Residents can participate in three different brain fitness programs: Posit ScienceTM Brain Fitness ClassicTM Program, an eight-week "cognitive calisthenics" course that measures brain health improvement through six specific computer exercises; CortexTM with Insight, a visual program that improves the quality and quantity of information that the brain absorbs from the eyes through five computer-based exercises; and [m]Power®, a five-level exercise program which employes historical reminiscences, music and film.

Residents can stay connected with friends and family via e-mail by using a senior-friendly web-based program called TouchtownTM. The computer program is designed for the novice computer user and features large-type, easy-to-read screens and voice-enabled e-mail and message boards, including a daily listing of activities.

Purposeful Service
Country Meadows encourages its residents to remain involved with their local community through volunteer outreach programs with elementary schools, hospitals, senior centers and charitable organizations. In addition, seniors can contribute to on-campus life by teaching a class, staffing the gift shop, watering plants, serving on a resident-led committee or visiting with other residents.
